Question:
Am I entitled to unemployment insurance benefits if I am unable to return to my regular employment?
Answer:
You may be entitled to both workers’ compensation benefits and unemployment benefits. If you’re terminated after your temporary disability benefits are discontinued, then you can make a claim for unemployment compensation. You would be entitled to unemployment if you can attest that you’re ready, willing, and able to go back to work. If you’re receiving temporary disability benefits prior to being released to go back to work, you cannot get unemployment benefits.
